Since his marriage to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 20th November 1947, he has dedicated his life to serving this nation and being Her Majesty’s ‘Strength and Stay’ throughout their marriage.

The Duke was involved with some 800 charities or bodies, with particular interests in scientific and technological research, industry, the environment, sport and of course the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
