Anglian Water: Update on £3.1million investment to replace the water pipes between Keysoe and Ravensden

From Anglian Water

We're getting in touch to provide an update on our £3.1million investment to replace the water pipes between Keysoe and Ravensden to ensure that water supplies are safe and reliable for decades to come.

So far:

  • we've installed 1.5 kilometres of new pipes on Row West and completed all the testing and connections. The road's now fully open, and we won't need any further closures on either Keysoe Row West or Hatch Lane.

We've laid around 2 kilometres of new pipe on Kimbolton Road (B660).  That's around 60% of the project complete and we're now working towards Mill Lane.

Some unexpected challenges with road conditions and other underground cables and pipes have unfortunately slightly pushed our finish date back. We now expect to have everything done by mid-February 2026.

To keep everyone safe while we finish our work, we still need traffic lights and a road closure:

  • Two-way traffic lights will remain in place between Thurleigh Road and St Neots Road until 31 October.
  • The traffic lights on Kimbolton Road (B660) will gradually move further along the road (towards Mill Lane) until 10 February.
  • A full closure of Kimbolton Road (B660) from St Neots Road to Thurleigh Road junction is planned from 3 November to 5 December. We've reopened the road for now because Bedford Borough Council needed to use the road as a diversion route for another closure they've got in place.

We know the traffic management and delays involved in our work have been disruptive and would like to thank the community for their patience whilst we complete this vital investment. We're updating residents about the project and details are also available on our website
